For HYROX gyms and the people who race in them
Taper is a race community hub for your gym. Crews for every event, partner introductions, race history and a private Readiness Score, run by the coaches who already know your racers.

Your race life, together.
Explore Crew, My Race, or Coach Desk.
Try it freely. All names and interactions here are illustrative; nothing is sent or saved to a real crew.
Group chats are good at logistics and bad at memory. Taper keeps your gym’s racers, their events and their results in one place that your coaches can see and the public cannot.
Race crews.
Every event gets a crew with its own chat. Training callouts, questions and travel plans stay with the people actually racing.
Events and race weekend.
RSVP to crew events, share travel and arrival plans, and see who is where on race weekend.
Partner introductions.
Looking for a doubles or relay partner? Say what you are after. Taper suggests an introduction only when both sides have said yes.
Race history and splits.
Your results, splits by segment and a recap you can keep to yourself or share with your crew. Missing splits stay missing.
Private Readiness Score.
Shown only when you have comparable evidence, and only to you and the coach you allow. It describes what has been recorded, not how you will finish.
Agree who is in.
You and a founder agree the pilot audience: your coaches and the athletes already racing. Members join from an invitation and confirm the races they have actually entered.
Make the next plan together.
Each event gets a crew. Members RSVP to crew events, post travel and training plans, and say if they want a partner.
Keep progress personal.
Race history and preparation stay private to the member. Coaches see what a member has chosen to share and can send a check-in from Coach Desk.
Pilots are small and set up by hand. We work through your first race crew with you.
Request a pilotJoin your gym’s crew for the event you are entering, find a partner who wants the same race, keep your results and splits in one place and see how your preparation is shaping up, privately. Your gym sends the invitation. Taper never makes your race history or preparation public.
- Know who from your gym is racing, and when.
- Meet a doubles or relay partner only when you both say yes.
- Your Readiness Score is yours. Coaches see it only if you allow it.
Accounts come from your gym’s invitation.
Coach Desk
A short list of who is racing, who has a check-in worth sending and what you decided last time. It is built to take minutes a week, not to replace your programming or your judgment.
Owner report
A plain weekly report for the gym: who joined, which crews are active, which events are coming and what the pilot is costing your coaches in time. Numbers come from what members actually did in Taper.
Control
You choose who is invited, can remove any post, photo or video from its menu, and can remove a member or delete an account at any time.
Crew chat is for the crew. Race history and your Readiness Score are private unless you choose otherwise. Missing evidence is shown as missing, never as a low score. Optional research is off by default, and you can ask for your data to be exported, corrected, restricted or deleted.
Many gyms already coordinate races through group chats, race-day tools and partner-finding apps, and some of those are good. Taper is not trying to replace them on race day. We are testing a different shape: one gym’s crews, run by its coaches, private by default, working all year rather than only the week of the event.
This is our positioning hypothesis. Whether it is useful is what the pilot is for.
Built with a working gym.
Shawn and Christo are building Taper with BC Block’s coaches and racers in Nashville.
Shawn Booth
Co-founder
Gym operator and coach in Nashville’s HYROX community. Shapes the race-community experience with his coaches and members.
Christo Huntington
Co-founder
Builds Taper and races HYROX himself.
Shawn owns the pilot gym. We say so up front: this is a founder-run pilot, not an independent study.
For athletes
How do I join my gym’s crew?
Your gym sends you an invitation. After you accept it, you add the races you have actually entered and join the crews for those events.
Do I have to share my results?
No. Your race history and Readiness Score are private by default. You choose what, if anything, to share with your crew or your coach.
What is the Readiness Score?
An optional private view of how much comparable race evidence you have recorded and how recent it is, shown only when there is something comparable to show. It is not a prediction of your finish or a percentage of how ready you are, and missing data never counts as zero.
How do partner introductions work?
Tell Taper which race and format you want, such as doubles or relay. An introduction happens only when both people have said yes. Adding an interest does not register you for a race or put you on a team.
Is there an app?
The pilot starts with an iPhone beta and mobile web for everyone else. Your gym sends the install link. A native Android app is not part of the first pilot.
Who can see what I post?
Crew chat is visible to that crew, and photos and videos appear as soon as you post them. Your gym’s owner and coaches can remove anything that breaks the community guidelines. You can report a message, block someone or leave a conversation at any time.
For gym owners and coaches
What does a pilot involve?
A short call with a founder, a small invited group of your racers and coaches, and a crew for each race your athletes have actually entered. We set up the first crew with you and check in on what is and is not useful.
How much coach time does it take?
Coach Desk is designed for a few minutes a week. We record the time pilots really take and report it to you honestly.
Does it replace our coaching or programming?
No. Taper does not write training plans or make decisions for coaches. Coach Desk helps you notice who is racing and who might want a check-in.
What do athletes keep private?
Race history and preparation are private to the athlete. Coaches see what an athlete has chosen to share, and crew chat does not include private evidence.
Who owns our data?
Your gym controls who is invited. Members can ask for export, correction, restriction or deletion. See Privacy and data use for the full notice.
What does it cost?
Pilot free; gym pricing undecided. Taper is free during the BC Block pilot. We have not set gym pricing and will not charge anything before we have agreed terms with you in writing.
Request a pilot.
Tell us about your gym’s race crew. A founder reads every request and replies by email.
What happens after I request a pilot?
Your request is free. Pilot terms are agreed together.
- 1. We reply. A founder reads your request and writes back by email.
- 2. We talk. We agree who is in the pilot, which races your crew is entering and how your coaches want to use it.
- 3. We start small. Your first crew goes live with a founder helping, and we look at what members actually do together.
This form takes no payment. Terms are agreed with you in writing before a pilot begins. Read the service terms.
